Select one of your shapes, turn on Invade mode, then click any country on the map to claim it. Click an owned country again to release it. Hold Shift & click to invade without enabling the mode.

With AI invasions on, other countries will attack you every ~45 s. You can defend in battle, auto-resolve, or surrender the territory.
